Anglesey September 2005

We set off to Anglesey on Thursday afternoon in order to get organised for Friday practice.

Come Friday morning the heavens had opened and the rain was set for the day. Well Ben had not raced on wet tyres before so here was his baptism of fire.

Out he went with the rookie and intermediates after a few blinding laps and stuffing some dude on a fire blade down the straight Ben was black flagged."why??" apparently he was going too fast and was moved into the expert class.

Come Saturday race day things were still not looking promising with the weather, we were praying for rain and everyone else were praying for sunshine. Out went Ben on his wets for practice. Then the sun came out BUGGER!! a frantic dash to change tyres for his race resulted in Ben going out with a dry on the back and a wet on the front. Ben had a flying start on the grid and lead the race from start to finish. Unfortunately for rival  Nick his gear leaver broke letting Sam Crooks to steal a worthy second place.

A quick calculation in the pits and Ben worked out anything below 3rd place and he needed to ride the last round, so riding with this comfort zone Ben secured a very comfortable second place.

On Sunday again Ben secured second place in the first race, BUT  when out riding in the single cylinder race Ben snapped his throttle cable. With only a two race break we were unable to replace it in time so he set off out on his TZR. With a new engine needing running in Ben coasted round getting third place and securing the Formula 125 championship.

The final round at the Three Sisters will see Ben just upping his lead but weather pending and God willing Ben is hoping to make a bid on the five year old Formula 125 lap record.

Hope to see you all there..........if the fuel shortage is over.!!!!
