What a weekend it was!
On Saturday Ben went out and tried his best but again the Aprilia just did not want to go. Barring kicking the damn thing (which got serious consideration) it had decided slow was all it was going to do that weekend.
Sunday was a real mixed bag of fortunes and disasters. Ben decided to try once again on the TZR which in our opinion is faster than the Aprilia's but Ben has not yet tamed the beast.
Out in the rookie race Ben was looking good on the TZR and looked like he could achieve a good result on it . I had just said "if he carries on riding like that then he's riding the TZR the rest of the day" while Ben hurtled down the home straight on the last lap, when he crashed at the beginning of cowards corner. His main rival in the junior race "Nick" also crashed while trying to avoid Ben.
It turned out the electrode on the spark plug had fallen off and destroyed Bens engine.
TZR looks beter than it really was.
This left Ben to struggle on in the Junior races on his "no go" Aprilia.
In the first junior race Ben took the lead and main rival Nick lagged behind and had to retire ( turned out his brake calliper seized as a result of his earlier crash). Ben managed to keep the lead right up to the last half a lap when he was slowed down by a rider in another class passing him which allowed Sam Crooks to squeeze through and take the lead giving him his first win.
Poor Nick had no spare bike to ride and no spares to repair his brakes, so we had to lend him some brake parts so that he could compete "BUT THAT DOESN'T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO WIN NICK". What cheek! borrows our brake parts and goes out and wins leaving Ben the brides maid again! I'm not lending you any parts again!
